Supreme Court,

Hong Kong 6th November 1893.

(instructed)

I am directed by the Chief Justice to inform you

that His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government deems it necessary that steps should be taken with a

view to your suspension from office. The charge against you

is as follows:- "That you did on the 26th ultimo allow Mr.

Rahman to improperly alter the official list, which it was

your duty to prepare, of the Summary Jurisdiction causes

for the following day on his assuring you that "nothing

would come out of the matter" as stated in your explanation

to the Registrar of the 30th ultimo." By His Excellency's

instructions the Chief Justice has now to call upon you in

accordance with Colonial Regulation No. 84 to state in

writing within 3 days from this date any grounds upon which

you may rely to exculpate yourself.

If you so desire your written explanation of 30th ultimo addressed to the Registrar will be considered as your statement in exculpation but you are at liberty to submit

any additional statement you may see fit.

Any statement you may furnish to the Chief Justice

as above mentioned will be duly transmitted to His Excellency.
